Seaside at a Glance
Seaside, Oregon's first
seashore resort, is one of the state's most popular tourist destinations, boasting
3 mi (5 km) of sandy beach, 2 mi (3 km) of ocean-front boardwalk and a host of
recreational opportunities. Outdoor enthusiasts enjoy the biking, fishing and
crabbing opportunities, and the chance to watch or participate in one of the marathons
held in the area each year, including the famed Hood
to Coast Relay. Several walking and hiking trails are located just minutes
from downtown, offering a taste of the town's diverse wilderness. Accommodations,
which include bed and breakfasts, condominiums, hotels, motels, resorts and campgrounds,
most of them within walking distance of the beach, are available to suit most
price ranges. Visitors strolling Seaside's streets find specialty boutiques, antique
shops, art galleries and the Seaside
Museum, not to mention a wide selection of casual and fine dining restaurants,
many of which feature fresh seafood and Oregon wines.
